DSDigitals.com was born in January of 2006 after a gestation period of almost 50 years. That's assuming I had my first camera at 10. Who can remember that far back? I do know I was developing my own film as an early teen so I can't be too far off with the time line. They say experience is the best teacher so I learned photography from the best, the old fashioned way, by doing. I am still honing those skills  but now I want to share my experiences with you.

Local youth sporting events

Currently, this gallery is home to local tennis but expansion of this gallery is expected. If you would like a local sporting event covered, contact DSDigitals.

This is another in the Special Events gallery.  In this gallery, you will find an album containing the Chicago Tall Ships of 2006 but also several car festivals that were presented in Springfield.

From early childhood, I was fascinated by the great sailing ships of the past. The Chicago Tall Ships Festival gave me the opportunity to experience their majesty up close.

Blessed Sacrament School

This is a stroll down memory lane back to my early years teaching.

more flowers

Flowers can be enjoyed in landscapes as a focal point like a colorful hill covered with tulips or as a forefront to soften an angular building. They can be equally beautiful in portraits through the close-up lens. It is like nature's palindrome. It gets better going from close-up portrait to a wide angle landscape but if you start at the other end of the landscape and focus in on the single floweret, it also becomes more beautiful. This gallery contains flowers in both perspectives.

In this gallery, Flower  Portraits will include both individual flowers like the one above and floral landscapes where the flower is the focus of the picture.  This gallery currently contains only one album but it is due for updating in the near future. Future albums will contain albums separated according to location.

Allerton Park

Allerton Park located near Monticello, Illinois was voted one of Illinois' seven wonders. Future albums will contain pictures of the other newly selected seven wonders.

A good picture has a story to tell; a great picture tells the story.
Hopefully, most of these pictures have a story to tell and at least some bring that story to mind.
I Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Springfield has one of the most beautiful Capitol Buildings in the nation. The rotunda viewed from the inside is spectacular. Even the best pictures don't do it justice. This gallery is incorporated into the Land of Lincoln - Springfield and surrounding sites gallery.

The Thomas Rees Carillon (above) is located in Washington Park on the Southwest side of Springfield. It sits  atop the old Sunset Hill where the locals, myself included, parked with a date to watch the sunsets and submarine races. Many of us, who didn't make a home run, at least made it to first or second base on the baseball diamonds located there. Now it is home to the magnificent Carillon and Botanical garden. A rose garden flanks it to the south. This gallery is incorporated into the Land of Lincoln - Springfield and surrounding sites gallery.

In our family, the highlight of any trip is the wildlife. From the glittering wings of a dragoon fly beside a still pond to the majestic beauty of an eagle perched on a near-by tree, there is little more rewarding to me, than to capture the instant in a picture to be relived by me and enjoyed by those who see my work.  This Gallery contains  wildlife landscapes and portraits captured on my outings. They are often grouped by location.

When you think of Springfield, Illinois, you can't help but think of Abraham Lincoln. From his early life in New Salem and his adult life in his home on S. Seventh St., President Lincoln left his footprints in Springfield and the surrounding area. The new Presidential Museum and Library brings together the legacy of his life and death. This Lincoln Gallery highlights where Lincoln's footprints might have been and most certainly were.

Our world is made up of landscapes in many forms and sizes from a miniature landscape of mushrooms on a log to the wide expanses of a far off mountain range. In this gallery, the albums are divided by locations of particular outings and trips. You might say, these landscapes are what's left after I take out the portraits of  people, wildlife and flowers.
